Catcher in the Rye (most interesting)
The relationship between Holden and Sally Hayes really interested me. At first Holden called up Sally to see a play with her. Then while watching he got really upset with her for talking to her other friend. Then out of nowhere, while eating, he asked her to go up to Vermont with him and then they would get married and live up in Vermont. Then after she says that the plan was ridiculous he gets really mad at her, and lets out all of his anger. When he was done letting out his anger he then tried to console her to make her feel better. Holden was just all over the place during this time period.

Yea you know what? I agree with you a hundred percent that Holden was completely out of his mind in this chapter. Personally, I felt that he was being an incredible butt-face and if I was Sally, I would have given him quite the beating. I think Holden was experiencing a very traumatizing moment during this part of the book, where he did not no what he was doing at all. I felt that he was just talking without even giving a thought to what he was saying, just so that he could keep his mind off of the depressing state he was in.
I agree that Holden seems like a complete jerk a lot, and most of it stems from his own insecurities. And the book did kind of anti-climax at the end, but I thought that because most of the interesting stuff was Holden's emotional breakdown, it was probably good for Holden that it got a little boring. Hope for a peaceful ending and all that.
I agree I thought their relationship was very weird. Also, when he explained her to Mr. Antolini. I also felt Holden just wanted to find friendship with someone, and Sally was a person who he felt he could have a connection with. Also, I thought that Holden thought Sally was paying too much attention from the kid from Andover so he was kind of pissed off from that.
